O Landsat 8, o mais avan\u00e7ado sat\u00e9lite de observa\u00e7\u00e3o da NASA<\/a>, capturou uma imagem da recente enchente que afetou Porto Alegre, no Rio Grande do Sul. A foto, obtida pela c\u00e2mera Operational Land Imager a bordo do sat\u00e9lite, revela com detalhes a extens\u00e3o da inunda\u00e7\u00e3o em quase toda a \u00e1rea urbana da cidade.<\/p>\n

A imagem mostra claramente as regi\u00f5es inundadas ao longo das margens do Rio Gua\u00edba, desde Navegantes, no norte, at\u00e9 Menino Deus, no sul. A colora\u00e7\u00e3o barrenta da \u00e1gua que cobriu v\u00e1rios bairros, como Farrapos, S\u00e3o Geraldo, Centro e Menino Deus, \u00e9 vis\u00edvel.<\/p>\n

Al\u00e9m disso, a \u00e1gua suja tamb\u00e9m \u00e9 percept\u00edvel em \u00e1reas mais internas, como S\u00e3o Jo\u00e3o e o Aeroporto Salgado Filho. A foto, capturada durante um per\u00edodo de tempo claro, enquanto o Landsat 8 orbitava a mais de 700 km de altitude, apresenta uma nitidez impressionante, permitindo at\u00e9 mesmo visualizar a \u00e1gua dentro do est\u00e1dio Beira-Rio e da Arena do Gr\u00eamio.<\/p>\n

Essa imagem foi produzida em apoio aos cientistas brasileiros colaboradores do Programa de Ci\u00eancias Aplicadas da NASA<\/a>, dedicado ao monitoramento de desastres naturais. Utilizando o sistema do Landsat 8, os pesquisadores americanos est\u00e3o mapeando deslizamentos de terra e identificando \u00e1reas sem energia el\u00e9trica no estado do Rio Grande do Sul.<\/p>\n

O mapa elaborado pela NASA<\/a> j\u00e1 identificou mais de cem pontos de deslizamento de terra, que se estendem de Caxias do Sul a Santa Maria. Al\u00e9m disso, a NASA<\/a> divulgou imagens da enchente capturadas pelos sat\u00e9lites Aqua e Terra, equipados com o instrumento Modis, capazes de captar diferentes frequ\u00eancias de radia\u00e7\u00e3o al\u00e9m da luz vis\u00edvel.<\/p>\n

O Modis conseguiu registrar, na segunda-feira (6), a extens\u00e3o da inunda\u00e7\u00e3o no rio Jacu\u00ed, desde Charqueadas at\u00e9 a entrada na Lagoa dos Patos, passando pelo encontro entre o Jacu\u00ed e o Gua\u00edba. A mancha de \u00e1gua barrenta, resultante da turbul\u00eancia do rio cheio, cobria uma grande parte da lagoa, se estendendo ao sul at\u00e9 aproximadamente a latitude de Cerrito. A imagem tamb\u00e9m mostra as margens inundadas dos rios dos Sinos e Ca\u00ed.<\/p>\n
